  • How much almonds?

I am revisiting my EFA consumption. I would really like to add some almonds to my diet. My question is how much per day is a reasonable amount? They taste pretty good, so I don't want to overdo it..

I already consume a couple of PB&J (sugarfree jelly) sandwiches per day and 2 spoons of natty PB with cottage cheese before bed, so the almonds would be in the afternoon between meals.

    Thanks!

Without seeing your entire diet it is hard to give you an accurate answer and I'm not sure what your exercise/physical goals are BUT I go with about 1-1/2 cups of nuts in the "offseason" and I'm down to 1/2 cup on weight-training days and 1/4 on non weight-training days during the current portion of my contest diet...

BTW - aren't you vegetarian? If so, you might be able to get away with higher portions etc....

Thanks for your suggestions - I was thinking in terms of about 1/2 cup per day, so that sounds like a reasonable number based on your note.

Yes, I am vegetarian and my lifting goals are very different from most people on this board. I have no quantitative physical goals like a weight I want to achieve, etc. I primarily let my strength and my sense of wellbeing dictate my lifting program. I use gym time as a complement to the other facets in my lifestyle including vegetarianism, meditation and simple living as a means to attaining physical and mental wellbeing. Sound too new-agey? :)

I'll post my diet one of these days but it would be off little use to anyone else as it does not follow the caloric recommendations that any reasonable bulking or cutting diet would typically follow.

1/2 cup should suite your needs.
