  • Red Meat

I just can’t stomach chicken anymore. Damn! It ends up taking me 45 minutes to force my meals down. So last week I switched to all red meat. I will be starting my contest diet in a moth, so I’m planning on sticking to this until then. I’m eating 96% lean hamburger and round steak. A couple times a week a throw a delmonico in there too. Anyone see an issue with this?? I have no problem knocking back 12-16 oz of red meat. Love it! I know I won’t be able to do this once my comp training starts so that’s why I switched now. I just needed a break from chicken.

Red meat has a little more fat in it but I can't see it being a huge problem or difference. You should be fine up till you start your prep. Plus the extra creatine should be good for ya.

I've kept venison and flank steak in my current contest diet - no worries...

I keep round steak in my contest diet (once a day) up until 2-3 weeks out but not 3 times a day like I am now. I guess no worries. Might gain a tad bit of fat but I'm not too worried about that.

Yeah - I'm only having red meat once a day but I ate it all the time in the off-season - as long as you cut your fat in other areas you shouldn't have a problem - especially if you're just using it as a break in the monotony of chicken and rice - have you tried lean ground turkey...

I hate it that steak and other red meat is so damn expensive to get the same amount of protein from as you would get from chicken.

I too got so freaking sick of chicken during my diet. I switched to turkey tenderloins, and loved them. In fact that's all I ate precontest. They are best when you can smoke them on a charcoal grill. I mean- GREAT!

I rotate in the day...my first two meals are chicken and the last is steak....my chicken is marinated too so its tastes good. not sure if that would be bad for a "contest" diet, lol...but I love the marinade. and I switch my veggies up a lot to, to give different tastes to the meals.
