  • My new PWO shake

I recently started this PWO shake. The cell-tech calls for 2 scoops as a serving but I don't want that much simple sugars PW. So i'm going to try this for awhile.

2 scoops of Whey protein = 40g protein
    1 cup of oatmeal
    1 scoop of Cell-Tech

Why do you incorporate oatmeal in your PWO shake? Not saying it is a bad thing to do. Just would like to know why you chose to do so.

yeah my only thing with that is its a complex carb...I like using waxy maize (vitagro or at one of the custom made places). I get way to many ups and downs with any amount of simple sugars post workout.

I was wondering the same thing. Oats are extremely low glycemic for a pwo meal. They break down very slow and an entire cup of oats may actually lower the glycemic index of the carbs in the cell-tech to the point at which they may not be effective enough to replace glycogen and spike insulin enough to uptake your protein and creatine.

Well I was using just 2 scoops of Whey and 2 scoops of Cell-Tech all mixed together for a PWO. But i didn't feel that great afterwards. So I wanted to take some simple sugars out and replace it with slower complex carbs. Hey i'm not trying to get all techecnical here I said i'm trying it out... lol I know all about needing simple carbs PW, blah blah blah. =)

Try just using your two scoops of protein with just plain maltodextrin carbs. They are alot cheaper than cell-tech and won't make you feel like dirt.

Oats pwo have been shown to increase fat loss yet still replenish glycogen stores almost as well as simple carbs - Glowalla and I have had several conversations on it here and there is a ton of information on things like this on another board I used to lurk around...

I use the Cell-Tech cause of the creatine. With one scoop I get my 5g of creatine and roughly 35g simple carbs. Then I have the rest of my carbs as slow release complex carbs from the oatmeal.

I like to keep my carbs low glycemic. I notice when I take in simple carbs or simple sugars, I get bloated. Not sure if my insulin sensitivity is high or what, so I always use oatmeal for pwo.

66g of protein, 1 cup of oatmeal, 10g of creatine, 1 tb spoon natty peanut butter, and ice ground up together. Taste like hot ass, but you gotta be a trooper about it.

I use ON chocolate. I think you've eaten dry ass chicken and brown rice for so long that you've slaughtered your taste buds. I've tried some really bad powders before, so i'll stick to ON.

I like Prolabs lean mass matrix. 40g prot, 40g carbs. I drink it at gym, go home and then eat oatmeal, fruit and either prot powder or egg whites.
