    i seem to get tired of oats real quik, i know some of you here are big on your oats, how do you have them?

    oats on toast? what the hell? lol.

    as for how I eat my oats. in the morning 1 cup oatmeal mixed with water, banana, and some pecans. taste like banana nut bread. good shit.

    the other meal i have oats with is in a shake. 2 scoops protein, 2 tbsp natural peanut butter, 3/4's cup dry oats, water and ice all blended up.

    i also make a meatloaf with oats. 1lb ground turkey, 1 cup dry oats, 1 egg, Ms Dash, 1/2 cup ketchup, little spicy mustard. mix it all up in a bowl. place mixture in baking dish and make it into a loaf. bake at 375 degrees for 40-45 minutes.

      yeah oats on toast would be a last resort i think lol, will try the meatloaf tonight but gona use lean ground beef instead of turkey.

        just made the meatloaf, its pretty good, had no turkey so used some lean pork mince, pepper, ketchup, french mustard, i used 2 cups of oats, 1 egg, not as lean as turkey but tastes good.

          2 cups of oats is way to much. if i used 2 cups of oats with 1 lb ground turkey it would be an "Oatloaf" more then a meat loaf.

          try the recipe as I laid it out bro. get some ground turkey also.

          P.S. what is pork mince?

            (mince) is what we backward aussies call ground beef, etc, like minced beef or minced turkey. Will try it with the turkey etc in afew days

                    If you put a handful of raw slow-cooking oats on top of cottage cheese, and top that with cinnamon, Splenda and some berries, it's a pretty damn good breakfast.

                    If you throw the same mixture in a blender with some Egg Beaters or egg whites, you get a pancake batter that's also very tasty.

                        No, I don't bother cooking the oats to keep the GI low. Especially not when I was living in Florida and the heat index was something insane. I regularly lost power to hurricanes, and did my workouts anyways, which required about a gallon of ice water to stay hydrated. No hot food. *shudder*

                          so does the cottage cheese give the oats moisture or what? also how much of an effect does cooking oats compared to raw oats have on GI? i cant imagine it is very much at all.

                            Yep, cooking does affect GI, though exactly how much I couldn't say. I also don't cook them because I'm lazy most mornings and just want to throw down my protein and low GI carbs and get the hell out the door.

                            To me the cottage cheese + raw oats + cinnamon Splenda + berries effect is like a refreshing parfait with some nice crunchy crumbles on top. Adding a layer of nonfat yogurt is especially nice, but it's another thing I don't usually take time to do in the morning.
