a quick question or 2 about nuts. So are nuts good or bad for you? i have kinda figured that eating a kilo of honey roastetd nuts arent going to do wonders for your waist line... But what about 40g or so of roasted penuts as a mid morning snack? any advise would be good :)

Well for one, peanuts aren't really nuts (they're legumes). They have protein, but it's an incomplete protein. They are high in fat, but it's mostly healthy fat. My main concern with peanuts and peanut butter is that they contain a mold that has been linked to cancer. I haven't been eating near as many peanuts as I used to because I've been looking for more info about the mold and how much of a danger it really is.

Peanut butter sold in the US has very low levels of aflatoxin (the chemical produced by the mold Aspergillus Flavus). I don't think it is a serious concern. I would be careful eating too much peanuts in 3rd world countries where these kinds of food standards are probably lax or nonexistent.

I have about 4-6 TBSP of natural PB everyday. Great healthy fats and good calories. "Honey Roasted" and crap like skippy dosent cut it though. You need to buy the natural kind.

As for what control said, don't let that kind of crap worry you. You can find a cancer causing agent in the air that you breath. Nothing but love control but people tend to get paranoid about that kinda thing.

Try some almonds - those are good for you and taste better than roasted peanuts anyway.

It's like the mercury in the tuna, a normal person would never eat enough tuna to have to worry about it, but a broke bodybuilder choking down 8 cans of tuna might actually be at risk. I've eaten half a pound of peanuts a day before, that's like 8 servings. Natural peanut butter is the worst and I used to eat a jar a day of that.

You can eat the nuts with other protein sources to make the chains complete. Fish, beef, chicken, eggs, protein shakes, ect..

Nuts are fantastic sources of healthy at and omega-3s.

                          Almonds,
                          Walnuts,
