  • Might get flamed for this but...

    Tuna shakes:

half cup to a cup of oatmeal, depending on your carb needs
1-2 5 oz cans of tuna, depending on your protein needs
    water to fill
your favorite single serving drink flavor crap (crystal light or whatever)

I'm sure you're making a face by now but I promise you it's as bad as it sounds. Just make sure you add enough water so it's not too chunky and serve it cold. I like to put about half a scoop of strawberry flavored whey and the lemonade crystal light- I swear it tastes like a lemon starburst with only a slight fishy after taste. It's a great way to suck down a meal in a hurry and it beats the hell out of eating your tuna straight from the can. I promise you'll be a fan.

Well, after trying it in apple juice, the impression I got was that any citrus or sharp tasting fruity base for the drink actually worked pretty well. I'd hit it.

I still haven't found a clear answer on whether or not liquifying solid food speeds up the rate of digestion and changes the amount of nutrients are absorbed. At first glance you would think it would, but on the other hand if you are eating solid food you have to chew it and wash it down with liquid anyway. So what the hell?

I'd definately take that shake. When im in a hurry my meals are a can of tuna mixed with a cup of dry oats in a bowl so this wouldnt be tough at all. Just because you drink it instead of eat it doesnt make it taste any worse. And the fruity shit you add to it actually sounds good!

You are worried to much about the little things. No need to focus on them. Worry about the big things like taking in the right amount of calories to grow, training hard, rest, etc.. those are the things to worry about. the difference in what your talking about is so small that you would never see any difference between the two anyway.

never tried it with crystal light. have with apple and orange juice though. its surprising, they completely kill the tuna flavor.

its a flavored powder that you add to a pitcher of water to make it flavored. you don't have it in Australia?

I read a post on here somewhere that mechanically processing oats changes the GI slightly but not enough to really matter. I'm not sure what this would mean for the tuna but I usually do this meal two hours before working out and as my next after my PWO shake. It feels like it clears the stomach pretty quickly.

Yeah - I think I have made the argument before that it does in fact change the GI but I'm with B in the fact that we shouldn't sweat the small stuff unless you're doing a show or something more extreme etc...

The only "problem" I have with these nowadays is that I could drink 4 or 5 a day and never really feel full - they simply leave me hungry an hour later if not sooner - that isn't a bad thing when bulking but it is frustrating at times - I prefer to feel full if possible because when dieting I'm deprived of that for months at a time :(

yea, it would be a mistake to have all your meals in liquid form. i was more referring to 1 or 2 not making a difference.

Btw - I sometimes have a hard time with the tuna "taste" and have found that canned chicken works well for taking that away - it's a little more expensive but well worth it for anyone who prefers to avoid tuna....

Lol - I didn't mean to imply that I would do that or recommend it to anyone - I was just saying that the damn things leave me wanting for more - I'm almost tempted to drink one right after a meal or with one etc just to get the calories - know what I mean - I haven't been getting in enough lately as it is so anything should help at this point :P
