  • Glycemic Index

Do you think body builders should only consume low Glycemic Index carbs, because of insulin sensitivity?
And do you guys consider Glycemic Load vs. Glycemic Index?
Thats seems sort of confusing to me.
    thanks

Glycemic load is the measure of the rise in blood sugar as a result of a given quantity of food.

Glycemic index is a measure of the effect of carbohydrates as compared to glucose. Cabohydrates that breakdown rapidly are given a higher score due to the quicker release of glucose to the bloodstream. What might be confusing is that the rating is based on 50g of carbohydrates from a particular food. For some foods, like vegetables, you may have to eat a few pounds in order to realize the GI score, which is why Glycemic load is a better indicator of how much your blood glucose levels are affected.

      don't worry about technical details.

just know that a bodybuilders carb source should always be complex. sugars = bad.
