  • protein powder for someone allergic to milk?

my buddy is allergic to milk...not lactose, but something else in the milk. As such, no whey for him. Is there another alternative for him?

Health food stores carry hemp protein. The ones I tried tasted terrible but there may be better ones.

Does he have Celiac disease - allergic to gluten? If so, he may only be able to use soy protein. I know there's a ton of gluten free products available now, just not sure about supplements.

AFAIK, it's just milk and milk products, even lactose free ones...which would lead me to make the uneducated guess that it's a protein allergy.

Optimum has a natural, lactose free protein powder.

I used to take powdered egg whites. Where I got it was cheap and I found it just as effective as whey. The only thing to be careful of, is they typically have alot of sodium in them.

Hopefully I don't get in trouble for putting this, but go to ROSE ACRE FARMS - THE GOOD EGG PEOPLE and they have the egg white powder I used to take.

I cannot tolerate any milk products at all. I have been using Nutiva Hemp Protein, and it has been working great for me. A little gritty but does not bother me.

It's usually more expensive but he could also look at something like Syntrax Nectar or the Isopure "juices". I don't know about the Syntrax, but you can get the Isopure RTD's in single bottle at GNC to try first.
