  • increase cardio?

so i've been doing a lot of running to tone up and since the weather is getting nicer, i'm considering biking along with running, either on independent days or doing both on the same day at different times. i usually run anywhere from 30-50 minutes depending on the amount of time i have on hand.

i was talking to some people and have been getting mixed messages of doing both running and biking on the same day. some say it's fine and some say it's not. if i do decide to bike and run on the same day, i'd probably run at home on the treadmill for 25-35 minutes and then bike a couple hours later for anywhere between 45 minutes to an hour. i'm not trying to prepare for anything. just trying to tone up and stay in shape. any comments or concerns?

They are both cardio. Why exactly are you asking this question.

question is, "is it okay to increase it?" i mean, like i said originally, some people say it's fine while others advised against it.

Well that depends on what your goals are and cals consumed etc etc, its a pretty open question. I dont see any harm in increasing it if you are trying to "tone up" etc.

If you doing running and riding on the same day does that mean there will be some days without cardio?

            most likely.

I would go for cardio on more days versus doubling up on some and nothing on others.

I would first take a look at your diet and see how many calories you're consuming.

Doing cardio twice a day is not necessary. You can do cardio more frequently throughout the week by cutting down on the time.

Example: 4 days of cardio for 20-30min instead of 2 days of cardio 40-50min
