  • A few questions for the diet gurus here please

My stats are 50 years old 5'11 231 lbs been lifting for over 25 years just finished up a natural bulk program and got up to 244lbs with a little too much love handles in my front and sides to suit me, Anyway my diet is super clean now at just around 3000 cals day with 350 to 375 grams of protien, 200 to 250 carbs and 70 to 100 grams of clean fat mostly from peanut butter cause I am not able to eat nuts. Doctors orders. I do 40 minutes on the treadmill 5 to 6 times a week at fast walk.

My first question is this. Does it sound like I have enough cals to burn fat and maintain muscle at 3000 cals a day?

My 2nd question is I do the cardio after the my workout. Problem is after I am done with the bodyparts I train I am hungry should I have a carb free shake afterwards while walking to the cardio area to take avantage of the pwo window or should I wait until I am done with my cardio to have my pwo carbs and protien? I eat my last meal around 4:00pm then train around 5pm for about an hour and then do my cardio and finish around 6:45pm. My other question is it ok to do the pwo carbs that late at night while dieting for cutting? Hit the sack around 3 hours later around 10pm. Thanks for the help..

you are in the classic, "want to cut but keep all my size" phase.

3000 cals is enough to cut with cardio for you.

    no shake until after cardio.

If you don't feel that your lean enough cut a back a bit on carbs and the fat, 100 grams of clean fats is 900 kcals as compared to 100 grams of protein or carbs which is 400 kcals.

I hear you man but the doc is already on my ass about using to much protien so the only place I can add cals is in clean fats when I drop my carbs.. Seems my kidneys are leaking protien thru my urine.. Not good not sure why.
