  • how much protein?

    how much protein do i need during a test cycle to maximize gains?

    6' tall 255 lb 22-24% bodyfat

    does it matter what kinds of protein im getting? ex: whey powder, red meat, fish, chicken/turkey

    when bulking last time i got close to 650grams per day

      I would try and stick with getting your protein from foods,but its hard to get it all in with food I try not to get in more than 2-3 shakes ed. I have friends that r up to 700-800 grams ed which I tried to da but just couldnt get it in. Most people get in 2 grams per pound of body weight.

        damn..... that's alot of protein....

        seems like 700 grams is waaaaaay overkill unless you are 350 lbs.....

          500 should be plenty, you need to make sure you get enough good fats and carbs too.

              I would say about 1.5g per pound. Since you'll be running test, your body will have a very fast metabolism, burning food left and right.

              As far as your fats are concerned, get in Nuts and Extra Virgin Olive Oil.

              Good carbs are Brown Rice, sweet potato, oatmeal, Whole Wheat Pasta, etc...

                sounds good DNA, thanks for the advice......

                i am already eating those things in my diet... did'nt know if there were some out there i was'nt getting...

                what's a good ratio of protein to carbs when trying to bulk while loosing bodyfat..... is their a proper answer for that question?

                i can tell with the test im putting on water like a mofo! i actually have gained about 5 lbs in 10 days..... sure it's all water though....

                  Ya no problem. There is no protein to carbs ratio that I know of.

                  Putting on water weight is fine, don't think of those as actual muscle gains. Keep eating and lifting, thats it

                    650-700 grams is a bunch of none sense. only thing you are doing is harming your body. 250 lb guy will need no more then 400 grams of protein.

                      dude 700g is way to much and would either be really hard to eat or to expensive to drink lol... do 2g per pound.. so prob around 500 for u... its best to get the majority of your protein from the foods u eat because ur body absorbs it better then shakes.... i would suggest about half half personaly... and if money isnt an issue for you, check out hydroprotein.. cause it is the best out their that ive found... even if you take more protein in other supplements, your body is just processing alot of it and spiting it out your ass..hyrdoprotein is a high grade that absorbs unusualy well lol...otherwise wen im tight on money i go for gold standard whey its pretty good as, well.. and i probably dont have to tell u this but drink at lease a 1/4 of it right after your work outs to maximize results... and one before you go to bed!:)

                        650g isnt nonesence it works great for me i put on solid weight and all my blood work is great. when im on gear and traning hard it does me great im at close to 570g now and no issues. i startd awhile ago when working with dante i put on great size and my strength went higher then before.maybe its not for everyone bu that doesnt mean its bs and if no one has tried it its hard to say anything bad about it. its always been good when ive bulked. everyone says 1 or 2grams which ive done ive just better results with the other

                          well i can't afford 700 grams of protein a day and maintain that.....

                          tell yall what i love to do after i leave the gym they have sonic drive thru right next door.... i hit me about 30 grams of ProComplex Whey with the aminos and all that shit.... stop by sonic they have a grilled chicken breast sandwich on wheat with mustard lettuce and tomato, i buy me 2 of them and on the way home i eat one bout a hour later i'll hit another.....

                          i love gettin my protein from food..... i always feel better the next day if i only have 1 or 2 shakes the day before.....

                            trust me, you dont need that much protein anyway. maybe for an advanced user on a heavy cycle but your body will not use any 700 grams of protein.

                            aim for 350-400 and you will be fine.

                              Honestly I shoot for as much as possible which is usually around 400 for me I usually am actually getting 300 to 400 everyday. I'm currently trying to eat more whole foods than powders I can get 250 to 300 out of whole food alone with my budget and 100 or so with the powder.
