In a bit of a rush but just wanted to let you guys know i had some bloodwork done (3 times in 3 months)because of some kidney pain. The first test showed my kidney function was slightly abnormal. Doc told me to cut out all protein and creatine and come back. Had two more test done over the next two months and since i have cut down protein and creatine kidney function is back to normal. I have the test results and can see the gradual change over three months. Alot of people will tell you excess protein and creatine will not have any negative effect but its pretty clear it can.

4 shakes a day is just way over board 2 a day is enough. it seems to me you were living off the shakes? anyways you are right I wouldnt have guessed 4 shakes would cause that. but I still would of told you to cut back and eat real food.Originally posted by redback View PostI cut out EXCESS protein. Your protein was probably concentrated, and since you're having 4 shakes a day it makes sense. High protein diets coming from natural/whole foods does not cause kidney problems. 1 shake a day doesn't cause any issue either.Originally posted by redback View PostI cut out EXCESS protein. Research shows that a very high protein intake hasn't any effect on HEALTHY kidneys!!!! If you have a preexisting kidney problem then you probably don't want to eat an excessive amount of protein. As for creatine supps, imo everyone stop using them 2-3 weeks prior kidney bloodwork because creatine can cause false positives in regard to BUN and GFR without any true kidney malfunction. Also make sure that you are fully hydrated before bloodwork.
