  • Gap between PWO shake and next meal

Ive been lifting before work because that's really the only extra time I have anymore. I finish at about 7:15, and work starts at 8:00. Between showering, getting ready, etc its tough to get any type of meal in before work. I have a shake PWO consisting of 40 grams whey/30 grams dex/5 grams creatine mono. That shake is at about 7:30. The soonest I can get in my egg whites and oats is 10:00. This is a 2.5 hour gap between PWO shake and my meal. I know this isn't optimal, but is it that big of a deal?

And just for reference, I have 25 grams whey, 1/2 wheat bagel with strawberry preserves and 1 cup of black coffee upon waking before the gym.

well at that point its better to get it in then not at all. If you didn't have work, your best time to eat would be 8-8:15am

You guys reckon the 2 hours is going to hurt me? I'm trying to figure out the lesser of the 2 evils. I know 2 hours isnt optimal but I don't want to deal with the gas and bloating caused by stuffing down 5 or 6 egg whites and oats 10 minutes after I lift. Plus I miss out on my fast digesting protein and carbs by not getting the PWO shake.

or you could go to the gym a little earlier and have time for your shake and your meal and hour later.... no way, you could never do that ehh? :tired::disagree:

I was thinking I might bring some almonds to snack on between the PWO shake and the egg whites/oats meal, just to keep a few nutrients flowing. Almonds a good choice for this window?

Almonds are healthy fats and protein. It is very slow digesting, you're better off mixing the almond with a shake, but you already had that.

Try cutting your chicken in tiny bits and put them in a zip lock bag. On your way to work eat the chicken from your bag cold. Mix it with some light salad dressing if you want to add flavor. Or eat it at work as soon as you get there.
