  • Friend needs help

So my friend emailed me earlier today asking for help on her diet. She is a strict Hindu and does not eat meat. Her goal is to run 10 miles a day. Her email to me is posted below. I helped her out, and i was wondering what some of you guys/girls have to say. Thanks.

okk so since i don't eat meat and i tried cutting down all my carbs--like i don't have rice anymore--so i try to get a ton of fruits and vegetables and stuff ...since i'm running 6 miles a day and trying to increase it to 10...but then i was hearing about how carrots and bananas are the most high-calorie fruits and you're supposed to avoid them. sadly those are 2 of my favorite things! along with spinach lol. but is it still okk to have them? especially as a snack before working out so i have enough energy to go run haha. thanks for your helpp there's so much info on the internet but a lot of it contradicts itself so much and i'm finally taking this all seriously so just trying to get some correct information....and you know like everything lol

she just needs to make sure she is getting some sort of complete protein. protein is more important then just gaining muscle.

all kinds of fruits and veggies are fine. rice, oats, potatoes, etc... for carbs.

can she have whey? can she have soy protein? for women soy is a good thing.

her goal isn't to put on muscle, just run 10 miles a day. Protein is very important, i told her if she wants to keep it strict vegetarian she can have protein shakes from Hemp and Pea.

        She Hindu bro, no meat!

Funny thing is, my other friend is a Hindu and he wanted to put on some size, i told him meat is important. 2 months later he calls me and says I am eating beef twice a week and chicken everyday :lmao:

It worked well on him, he's 155lbs and lean. Thinks he's big and strong for having veins going up and down his arms :D

If her goal is to run 10 miles, carbohydares should be a large part of her diet IMO. Ten miles, if she is fleet of foor, will be at least an hour. I'd assume it would be closer to 70-75 minutes (or higher). If she is doing that several times per week, rice would help her goals if done in moderation

Yup that's what i told her as well. Kick up the carbs, especially the brown rice and add some lento's in there for protein.

Bro, i appreciate your responses to my threads, but if I am asking you nicely to refrain from using those words towards my friends. You can curse me out all you want, i don't care, but please not my friends.

She has lost 26lbs by just running and dieting. Her goal is to run 10 miles with a proper diet without gaining weight.
