  • Trying a keto diet.

Several of the people at my local CrossFit are going hardcore keto along with others doing strict Paleo and a third group going pure Zone.

I started three days ago and I'm not sure I'll be able to stay this strict for much longer. I wanted to do zero carbs the first few days to really get into it. I've had no carbs at all since Friday and I feel like total shit.

I've had nothing but meat, cheese and eggs. Never thought I'd say it but even bacon is getting old.

I don't know how people can do this. If I cut carbs out i'd probably kill someone. When I eat carbs or sugars less than normal i start to get the shakes even.

Muscles go flat and weak and you load your body up with fat and grease.

Sorry Deca, terrable decision to follow what the dipshits at the cross fit hippy gym.

Are you doing refeeds? Lyle's McDonald's RFL is a good read. If you keep your protein levels high enough, you can spare muscle loss. But it is brutal - are you trying to drop fat?

This is just going to be an experiment over a short time period.

Each group will rotate diets and compare results.

I'll do the normal carb load/ refeed after seven days......if I make it that long.

I'm curious to how a strict paleo diet works for you. I've knocked out all grains short of my pre workout and post-workout meal. Those two meals still have 1/2 cup of oats in them (along with berries or other fruit, but typically berries).

I honestly feel better since I cut it out rice and sweet potatoes. I've dropped some weight, in a good way. Don't know if I could cut them out completely though.

I've done strict Paleo and Zone before and do well on both.

This keto shit sucks a nut.

I can't even stand too quick or it feels like I'm gonna pass out.

Today's workout should be a fucking joy.

As I recall, you work in the science profession. If so, do you find your work and concentrating to be difficult?

The 50 grams worth of oats a day ensure that I get enough carbs in to function optimally. Eating fruit all day and still hitting 150-200 grams of carbs can be difficult to stomach. With no carbs, forget it. Zombie

Actually I have noticed a difference.

Hell, I had to edit that last post twice.

Workout sucked, feel totally flat, no drive at all.

Have you done keto diets before? It takes a few days to get used to the low carbs. I felt that way on my first carb cycle - it took about a week or two of feeling like shit before things felt better.

No this is the first time I've done keto.

I'm going to get some ketostix and see how it's going so far.

Unless it gets a hell of a lot better this week will be it for this little test.

I miss my fucking oatmeal and fruit.

The body adjusts. Give it a couple of weeks.

A few weeks my ass, fuck that noise.

                            Ketostix say moderate/high 60 mg/dL.

I think a week will do for our little experiment.

Not sure if I could wait a couple of weeks. I value my mind above my body. When the mind starts to go, something has to be done
