I just have the regular one without the guard. It's pretty loud but its not THAT much louder than any other blender. I live alone though so I relly never cared how loud it was. Try a restaurant supply place, they probably have one on display you could turn on to see how loud it is. Theyre probably overkill for making smoothies and whatnot but I can mix tuna and milk to where its blended so smooth its the consistency of melted ice cream.... I still gag a little drinking it though, ha ha

Dont laugh but my favorite for protein shakes and small things is the Magic Bullett. I use that thing daily.

I have no clue bro.
I do know my 40 dollar blender sucks ass.
I am also a lil bit of a clean freak and washing those things suck you have to take it apart cuz there are so many lil spots you cant get to.

Well mine is still working a treat, perfect shake every time, crushes and blends ice like a charm, pulls into 2 pieces and goes in the 'new' integrated dishwasher and comes out smelling like roses blam, job done.
