  • Greek yoghurt

I think they spell it with an "h"! Anyway, I am getting back into training hard after way too much time off. Fortunately, I didn't get to be a complete fat lazy bastard. Stayed about the same weight--just replaced muscle weight with fat weight I guess. Anyhow, one of the people I'm training with now suggested greek yogurt (like Chobani) with some honey as a post-workout snack. I'm wondering what the opinions are on the yoghurt as a source of protein. Is it more of a whey or casein or how good is it as a protein source in general?

    Thanks!

Pretty freaking good, but got sidetracked by some life shit...getting back into the groove and feeling awesome. Just really tough to go to the gym and realize that it's gonna be a long road back, but it's awesome to feel like a virgin again and get sore as hell from everything I do!

...and it's nice to see there's a natural training mod, even if there isn't a natural training section. I never crossed to the dark side, but it's more tempting as I get older. Just in the little time I've been away, I don't feel like I recover fast enough. Hopefully, my body remembers how to recover as I continue the road back.

        Cool, bro... welcome back!

As for your original question, I think Greek yogurt is regular yogurt with the whey removed, so yeah, pretty much all casein, I think. Greek yogurt is pretty good, better than regular yogurt for protein, but how much are you going to eat? I don't think a cup of yogurt has too much protein. Not bad for a snack though.

Without knowing the answer, I had some as a later night snack to see if it tasted good enough to work as an alternative to cottage cheese (I suspected it was mostly casein). It has about 23g protein and 9g carbs in 1 cup. Might try it for a bit and see how it feels. Unfortunately, it isn't the best tasting without something to sweeten it. I get my buddy wanting to eat it pwo with the honey, but whey is better then. Oh well, options are good.
