people make things complicated and get lost in the "magic" of these so called diets.

lets keep it simple and rely on science and math.

if you eat more calories per day then your body burns you gain weight. if you eat less cals then your body burns you gain weight. its really that simple. there is no magic or religious type mysticism involved.

figure out your goals, figure out how many calories you need and achieve your goal. nothing more to it.

Depends on where you are currently and where you want to go.

If you are over 15%, just running a sufficient deficit with high protein should allow you to drop fat without losing muscle. Also add in low-impact cardio 3 times a week - 1 hour, 65% of max heart rate. Once you are at 11-12% range, you are going to have a hard time dropping further unless you do things like carb cycling. Don't have personal experience with all these diets, but bottom line is deficit and high protein to keep from losing muscle.

All this applies if you are natty. If you are juicing, one of the other guys may have better inputs.

I stick to about 2.5 grams of protein pr kg bodyweight, and low carb with good fats... about 2000 calories pr day.. i am about 240lbs and my goal is 210-220lbs, then i think i will be about 8-12%bf. so fatloss is going nice and steady... however i was thinking if there where other benefits from f ex zero carb diets and vice versa?

In my opinion, the off-the-shelf zero carb diets will help you if you are a fatty trying to get semi-respectable. They are not going to work if you are at 11-12%. They will just make you miserable, as a zero carb diet is an exercise in masochism. To get into single digits as a natty, you need to carb cycle.

What would be good example of carb cycling? when i am on diet, i tend to do different types of dieting, f ex week one, i include carbs, good fats, good protein, week two, i f ex do atkins and so on, just for some changes, and to get my curiosity satisfied.. however end overall i stick to 2000kcal and to get my proteins in all diets... but f ex atkins diet i get lots more energy, i fell more full and mentally on top.. with carbs i tend to sometimes to not have that much energy(same amount of calories about 2000)but fell more pumped in the morning, and not as musc strength at the gym as on atkins..
on atkins i cant feel the same pump in the morning as when carbs is included in the diet, but i do look alot harder.. i get less sleep on atkins, but better sleep, and vice versa when carbs included...

              what do you think??

Is it possible to grow muscles only on f ex 100grams of carbs pr day, and lots of meats/fats?? (given that you consume more than daily needed in calories)

logan this doesnt answer your question but have you ever tried high carb, high protein, low fat?

that works best for me. no energy loss, keeps muscle fullness and strength etc..

medium protein, high fat, low carb is how I get ripped. Science backs this up as well. If you are a bodybuilder and on hormones then high carbs won't hurt you and will keep your muscles full and energized, but if you are just looking to shed fat and are not on hormones then you'll need to adopt some sort of carb manipulation diet.

yes i do exactly the same as you when the goal is to keep the size or perhaps bulking.. i am om diet right now, but i try to learn more on how the different types of diets effects on my body, and see the different positive and negative side effects they all have.. and i dont get bored when eating the same thing week in and week out, so why not experiment a bit with it..:)

do you eat high carb, high protein, low fat with calorie restriction on cutting diet? and does it work fine for you? i was thinking about triyng that out next wek...:hibb:

yea you may have a point there. i stay decently lean to where high carbs just makes my muscles looks even more ripped.

i never really thought about people holding more fat prob wouldnt get the benefit of the high carbs. seems like the leaner you are the less your body wants to store fat.

yea bro i tend to stay on high protein carbs and low fat all the time no matter if leaning down or bulking. but then again i stay lean enough to where i dont have a ton of fat to loose.

when i eat high fat it just sits in my stomach like a brick and i get bloated as hell. then i cut out carbs and my muscles deflate like balloons.

I dont like carbs and fat in the same meal either...;-) i was thinking of trying 250grams of protein, 25 grams of good fat, and get my carbs from apples, pears, bananas etc next week, 2000calories pr day, that about 100 calories below maintenance, and gives about 2000calories deficit pr day on working days... the goal is to shed about 6-8kilos more bodyfat... whats ypur openion on that?? :):weights:

Just eat some type of meat, a small scoop of white rice and hot sauce for every meal. Why complicate it with apples, bananas and shit? I would recommend getting some grass fed ground beef, cooking it in the pan with onions and bell peppers (get bags of frozen ones), cooking a big pot of white rice, and several bottles of tobasco/hot sauce and eat that shit for every single meal for 6 weeks and drink only water and green tea. You can separate out each meal with plastic containers and microwave it when you want to eat. If you want healthy fats, add some olive oil to your meal and add some coconut oil to your green tea or coffee. If you don't lose fat that way then something is wrong with you.

(Why not brown rice? There are some studies that show it bloats people and fucks up protein absorption. I'll have to find those studies.)
