The science seems to say that as long as you have a certain amount of calories be it from the cleanest of foods or pure garbage foods that the results will be the same. If you are under the amount of cals your burn per day you will get lean no matter what type of food you eat. Thoughts?

Yeah I know in theory results should be the same 1200 calories is 1200 calories but it's not.
Here is what I learned from years of being in this business...
1200 calorie clean diet with the right amount of protein carbs and fat = lean muscles and low bf.
1200 calories of shit food = skinny fat.
My theory is with clean diet body utilizes all the nutrients properly and becomes an efficient fat burning machine. Basically protein feeds the muscle and muscle burns the fat storage for energy and at the end you have a lean body.
But with shit food diet you might be taking lower calories a day but since you are not feeding the muscle you are just loosing muscle mass instead of body fat. and in fact you might be even getting fatter while you are loosing weight because what you loose is not fat it's simply muscle and since there isn't enough muscle to burn the calories you took in from the shit food you just ate, you might be adding more fat to top of your fat.Last edited by BEAST; 08-14-12, 12:40 PM.

An average joe who sit in his chair in his office can not eat 2k calories and loose weight. Usually 1500k is meintenance and 1200 is weight loss. It's hard to get in clean 2k a day.
200gr protein = 800 cal
150gr carbs = 600 cal
50gr clean fat = 450 cal
Total: 1850 calories.
Funny thing is an average fat person would have no problem sitting down and eating a 2k calorie pizza but they complain about how much food they have to eat to get to 200 grams of protein a day.
Fucking stupid.

I've stopped reading articles that claim that a calorie is a calorie. I don't know how people can even claim that is true. The way that your body processes calories from different macronutrients and different sources of those macronutrients is so different. It's like claiming that your car will run the same on a gallon of gasoline or a gallon of diesel or a gallon of molasses. Try it, it isn't true!
...and Beast makes a good point--there isn't a universal formula for everybody. I know I can only make good use of so much protein and there's a limit to my carbs before I get "skinny fat" and so I do the rest in good sources of fat. Unfortunately, I don't know that there's any way to figure out that ideal ratio for your body besides a lot of experimentation! Protein, easier. Carbs, lot harder especially with all the sources that seem to affect me differently.
