  • Rice or pea protein?

Thinking of changing things up a bit and switching from whey protein to rice or pea protein.

Before anybody rags on it, I looked at the nutritional info and they have exactly the same amino acids as the whey protein. The exact numbers vary a bit, but overall, a scoop has about 25g of protein and the fat and carbs are really low at least in the versions I am looking at.

Anyone tried these? Any positives or negatives as far as bloating or digestion is concerned?

Pretty sure FB has used veggie protein, not sure if it is pea specifically.

if i had to go this route i would buy a blend with both in it. they work better together meaning how much you can absorb (bioavaliability) the essential amino acids. pea protien is suppose to taste pretty good.

Sorry Scrum, was gone all weekend. Yes, I do use a plant protein instead of whey, because I avoid milk. I have only used this one, but I think it's good quality based on research/reviews I've done. It tastes quite good just with water, it mixes very well, and doesn't leave you feeling ill/bloated like whey did to me. I make fruit/veggie smoothies with it, also.

I don't eat it as a whole grain 4x a day like I was. It doesn't affect me the same if its rice flour or rice protein - but still I don't eat it often.

Vegetable based protein powder has been a god send for me. I have all kinds of food allergies. :(

Im with beast on this one. Whats wrong with some good ole' chicken? Or try that steak protein that kai(I think) makes...

What happened to Soy protein? fyi, I heard soy increases your estrogen levels.

Also, in all honesty, veggie protein sounds gay and not effective.

Nothing wrong with chicken. Doesn't work for me - I'm vegetarian.

Not that I have anything to back up that statement... It just has an unmanly ring to it. "Hold on man, I have to go take my veggie shake first" or "Here, get some veggie shake so that u get big!"
