when dieting what do you prefer in that what works best, I'm generally running lowish carb at the moment.

refeed/carb up days or cheat days

Carb up or refeed days are only necessary if you are really doing a PSMF or keto type diet. If you are just dropping the carbs a bit, it won't do anything for you. In fact it is likely to undo what you are doing during the week. Just eat normally without going out of your way to cram carbs and you'll be fine.
