  • Slim Rice

    Thought this was interesting.

I don't see how this could possibly be healthy.

Is this the ultimate diet carb? The rice with just 8 calories in every bowl | Mail Online

purely placebo food. no nutritional value to it at all. basically the same thing as chugging a few glasses of water to trick your body into believing it's full.

Nothing new here... there are these Japanese noodles called Shiratake noodles that are made from yam.. basically zero calories. Pretty good for filling the stomach if you are on depletion cycle. I lived on those when I was in depletion mode when I did the Ultimate Diet 2.0. But yeah, no nutritional value, but that's the point. You don't want to depend on this for normal use, but rather as part of a carb cycle, or PSMF diet, or whatever.

Sure... no problem. I've never used the rice but I used to have Shiratake noodles every day when I was in the depletion phase of a carb cycle and I needed to keep carbs really low, like less than 50g. Near impossible to do as a vegetarian, as there is no equivalent of chicken, pure protein with very little carbs or fat. You can get them in a Japanese or oriental grocery store. They cook just like pasta but have a bit more of a rubbery texture, so probably better to eat as oriental noodles rather than pasta.

I've got to look into this rice when I do that again. Alina, have you found it in the US?

Scrumhalf, I'll have to look when I'm at the grocery store. This is the first I've heard of such a thing.

Has it ever upset your stomach?

No, never had a problem, but I only used it 2 days a week. The texture took some getting used to though... felt like rubber bands lol... but maybe I was not cooking it right.
