  • Follow up to diet critique and macro timing

So I think I have my diet and macros dialed in with all the suggestions given. I have a follow up question in regards to macro timing. Being a dad, 2 jobs, etc... seldom do I get to lift at the same time on a daily basis. My question is, say tonight I get off work at 8pm and head to the gym. have my PWO shake at 9pm. I usually hit the rack around 10:30-11:00om. I'm still one meal and % of macros short of daily intake. Would it still be ok to have another meal around 10pm before bed to make ends meet? Or should I just eat a slow digesting protein like cottage cheese? I was thinking either cottage cheese and sacrifice the carbs or if it makes no matter making one of those Tuna/Oatmeal Mozza ball looking things that Bouncer suggested in the past.

If you are not prepping for a contest, it makes no difference. Just get your macros in. Timing does not matter.

Thank you, far from prepping for anything

scrums point is that unless you are putting the last minute finishing touches on your body you can skip that last meal as long as you make up for it with the meals that come before it during the day. so for example if you know your not gonna get that last meal 5 in, during meal 1-4 eat a little more protein, a little more carbs, a little more fat etc..

at the end of the day calories are all that matters within reason. obviously you cant try and jam all your cals into 1 meal as there will be digestion and efficiency issues. but 4 meals vs 5 meals really makes little difference if the cals are the same at the end of the day.

Thanks, so for example I will not be able to make up the missing cals during the first 4 meals today due to going straight from one job to the other. So after the PWO shake tonight, avoid another meal before bed? I'll try to plan the diet a bit better on days scheduled like today

go by how you feel today. if your starving have something. if you feel like your forcing the meal down skip it.

one thing I've learned is this. when your body is in an anabolic state you will be hungry for all your meals. the whole idea of "forcing food down to grow" just doesn't work with me. my body doesnt want the food at that moment so all forcing food down does for me is create storage in the form of extra bf.

Oh I'll be hungry, I'll keep it simple and do tuna with oats or something like that.
