  • Normal Water consumption? I drink a lot!

    I drink around 125 to 150 ounces of water a day. That is just straight water, not including soft drinks, etc.....

    We have all heard the 8 glasses (8 ounces a glass) of water a day. So that's a recommended amount of 64 ounces of water a day for the average person.

    Now, most people on this board are not "Average" so we can throw that out the window.

    The thing that I find weird is, even when I take a week off from work outs, I still get thirsty as hell and consume the usual amount of water.

    I'm not on any ephedra products, drink around 1 coke a day and only really drink protein shakes. I'm 6 foot and 190 pounds, so it's not like I'm a giant or anything......

    So I guess my question is this: How much water does everyone take in on a usual day or even a sedentary day?

    I drink 2-3 gallons of water on workout days and usually 1.5-2 gallons on off days. You want to be getting in at least 2 gallons of water a day.... your body needs it.

      2 Gallons! Crap that's 256 ounces!!!

      I already have to piss like 6 times a day!

      If I take in that much, my kidneys will shutdown!

        Hahahahaha.. no they won't. You need 1 1/2 to 2 gallons a day.... no getting around it.

              i carry a liter bottle everywhere, at the gym i fill it usually twice, so thats around 3/4 a gallon at the gym alone.

              i too get thristy as hell even when not working out. i actually cut soda from the diet to keep my preworkout eca effective w/o having to up the dose.

                  1.5 to 2 gallons is not a problem. You have to do it all day not a quart at a time. It is much easier to drink through out the day. Your body will get acustomed to it and you will know the diffrence on a day or two when you don't drink that much water. If you are thirsty you are becoming dehydrated and God forbid if you start pissing yellow. Man, I hate that!!!

                        don't think you need more than 1-2 gallons a day. i usually crush a gallon while working out...

                          what is wrong exactly with pissing yellow? just curious. just a sign you haven't drank enough, or is there more to it?

                          i drink about a gallon a day and perhaps i should drink more, but i'm a girl and smaller than most of you guys, so maybe not so much more. amount IS related to BMI, yes?

                          i know if i drink less than a gallon i am now TORTURED by thirst that wakes me up in the middle of the night, choking. also my back hurts.
