i've had the same problem with nitro-tech, and it was lactose intolerance that did it to me. my lactose intolerance is only mild, and it still left me on the porcelain throne. i ended up getting rid of it and using muscle milk instead (which has so little lactose it doesn't act up, ironic huh?). if you mix it w/ milk and this is the problem, you're gonna want a liquid nitrogen enema by the end of the day. if you still want to finish your bottle and don't mind buying a few more pills, use some lactaid. if you're not at all lactose intolerant, ignore this entirely!

If your body isn't using that protein it's gotta get rid of it somehow. It might also be that your not used to having so much protein at one time. I used to get them when I started taking protein powders. And don't buy Nitro-Tech next time around.

Whats wrong with Nitro-Tech?My friend reccomended it to me...now this is my first supplement I am ever taking..I thought this was supposed to give me more energy to workout. The instructions say to take it after working out. Should I take a drink of it before i go to the gym...how long does it take untill I get the "energy boost"?

It is way too expensive as with anything you buy from Muscletech. It is just protien. No "energy boost". As far as cramping you could give ginger root a try., It helps digestion works wonders for stuff like gas/ cramps associaterd with whey. Next time try pro-rated,optimum,Syntrax nectar. All are good priced and taste good.

i've used nitrotech and never felt an energy boost, it was just a bit expensive for the servings. use it before and 30-45 minutes after your workout. in the morning, afternoon, and before bed. (see how it gets expensive) look into getting a 10lb bag or jug, it'll end up costing about the same price. try the above ideas with the milk, but i would think drinking it with water would help you tolerate it more. use a full 8 oz. and cut back to one in the am, or one just after workout. if you weigh a hundred pounds your body may just not be used to the protein. but it will adapt...........eventually. :( and btw you should get about .8gms per lb, if your not lifting but workingout, and 1-1.5gms per lb if lifting.

I have heard good stuff about the Optimum "stuff" :-). My question is what would be a safe protein/energy drink to drink than before working out and possibly after...maybe somebody can supply me with some products other than Nitro-Tech. I stress keyword SAFE! I don't want anything that has not been tested etc..

I dont think there is a drink that boosts energy that is protien. Pre workout I would just pop a stacker or even a suger free red bull and drink 20-40 grams of protien. Post workout is important to get about 40 grams of protien and simple carbs( amount depends on current diet). I cut carbs when Im dieting so I dont throw much dextrose in my post workout shake. You have to understand Protien is pretty much protien. Im sure some will dissagree. Look at the lables most are close to the same. I personally like pro rated.

Single serving can of Tuna - $.89
Side effects = Zilch (aside from stomaching it on the 300th serving! :)
Plus you can buy it ANYWHERE and mix it with many things.... Salsa for one and still be low carb.
You can buy Chicken in the same convienent pop open cans for a little more.
Shakes have their use; however I prefer getting it from standard food sources. Taking a can to work is easier than 1 cup of milk and powders. I do shakes mainly on the weekends or evenings for a change up to the Tuna, Chicken, Meat in take.

Here's the deal, Nitro-tech sucks because it is every other whey iso protien, just in a fancier container and they charge you double, like everyone said. Optimum is good stuff definately. As for an energy boost, whoever told you that protein is gonna give you an energy boost is stupid. If you just drink and energy drink before your workout then you'll get the energy boost you want.
Go to www.powernutrition.net it has everything you are looking for and its a sponsor of the board. :D Just seach for Whey Isolate Proteins.

I've gotten good results with AllMax Nutrition IsoFlex - it contains growth factors - tastes great too. As someone else suggested, try mixing your protein with water or as alternative to cow's milk, you can try goat's milk - many people find goat's milk to be much more tolerable - it tastes very similar, but its' protein is different.

Optimum's whey is great and cost effective however there is no energy "boost". You could probably buy a 10lb sack of Optimum for what you're paying right now and IMO it's better protein. You could also check out egg whites international www.eggwhitesint.com for liquid egg whites. Throw some of those in a blender with a few drops of vanilla, skim milk, and a pinch of sugar and it tastes just like vanilla ice cream except without all the other shit that manufacturers throw in. It's also a lot lighter because you're not using near the sugar, egg yolks, and high fat milk or cream.
