I have taken creatine on and off. But I am concerned weather or not it is even worth taking? What benefits does it really provide, or does it just cause you to retain water and look filled out?

Opinions???
The body creates Creatine Phosphate as a secondary source of energy when Adenosine Triphosphate stores run low.. ATP is used to give energy to muscle fibers during contraction, but the body usually only has around 4g ATP at a time.. CP is used to replenish ATP levels so you can continue exercising.. Creatine Monohydrate supplementation is for the regeneration of CP, to continue the cycle of energy for muscle fiber function during training.
There's more studies on creatine like its use in brain function and such.. Just thinking it makes you hold water is just short-changing yourself on what else it's capable of.. ;)
is it useful to take creatine after a work out ? I use synthatrex which is a creatine. It says 10 g b4 morning work out and 10 g mid afternoon. I only want to take 10 g for the day not 20g. Should i take 5 g b4 a work out and 5 after or does it not do anything after a work out... should i just take the 10 b4...
Most people say take it after because various studies show that ur body only calls on the creatinee, or it comes into play, after physical high intensity/straining excersice (such as lifting) and when insulin is at a peak. The reason ur brand says take it before is because it contains some NO stuff thats supposed to give u a good pump in the gym, weather thats worth anything is up to you. U can do whatever u want, I like thw 5g b4 and 5g after.
I take Cell-Tech four days on, then four days off. I also use the bracketing method which is, one serving (10grams) one hour before the workout, one serving immediately after, then another serving 2.5 hours after my workout. About 30 grams a day

 you must spend alot of $$$ on that crap at 30gms a day.
and why 4 on 4 off? it should be taken daily to be effective.
Psyko hits it on the head, 30 grams is far surpassed what ur body will actually use, its a waste, plus thats tons and tons of sugar because cell tech packs theirs with like 65+ grams or something.
Anyway most with mono I believe just take it after, I like to do the 5g b4, 5-10g after.
I take 30 grams a day because I'm 6'4", weigh 250lbs with 12% body fat. 30 grams might me a little high but not by much. As for the 4 consecutive days on, four days off, I have had great results for the past 2 months. In the past, I have plateaued in size and strength gains after three weeks to a month of consecutive usage. I believe that by 4 on, 4 off, I'm keeping the receptors active and sensitive to the creatine loading. As for Cell-Tech, I don't like micronized creatines and cell tech is the only one I have made noticeable gains from.
