    Big Victory in California

Last Friday, the California Assembly voted to block passage of an onerous bill that would duplicate federal legislative efforts and cause dietary supplement prices to rise. Although S.B. 779 had previously passed in the California Senate, its failure to gain approval in the House sent a clear message that consumers and industry alike felt strongly that the bill was an unnecessary burden. Since the California legislature has adjourned for the year, S.B. 779 has effectively “died.”

This success in defeating S.B. 779 was due in large part to grassroots advocates like you pressuring your representatives in the California legislature – through e-mails, faxes, phone calls and personal visits – to stand up to a bill that was clearly bad for business and bad for consumers.

    What’s Next?
While the failure of S.B. 779 to pass is an important victory, the fight to maintain access to safe, affordable and effective dietary supplements is far from over – in the states and the U.S. Congress. We’ll need your help in continuing to get the word out to friends, family and colleagues to sign-up for our advocacy alerts and updates. Together, more victories like the one in California are possible.

It probably didn't hurt that Arnold is governor of CA. He would have not liked that bill.

Unfortunately, YJ is here as the bearer of bad news (as usual) and must convey the message that the people's voice in this country is minimal, if not totally irrelevant. The Pro Hormone ban for example, remember all the links, all the e-mails, all the letters, etc. that people spent hours on for several months to save PHs? Guess what? Huge waste of time. Supplements/ergogenic aids are a grey, vague area for members of the government, essentially, they think everything is determental to the heath of the United States citizens they love so much ( ) and in attempts to monitor our health and potentially save our lives, they will do anything they can to eliminate these toxins from being readily avaliable to us.

I for one would like to thank the government from saving my life from such things as ephedrine, etc. 13 people died of ephedrine overdoses last year, its hard to tell how many of which were obese, had prior heart disorders, took way over the recommended dose, etc. but thankfully the government stepped in and smacked my hand before I reached for another bottle. We all owe the government for saving our lives from these bad things, maybe someday when we're responsible adults we can choose what we consume, until that time, remember, supplements are very bad and wear your seatbelt.

Gear would be legal as well if the government wasn't so regulatory... but they are looking out for our best interests... < sarcasm >
