  • YJ - What's your take on IFPA Certification

    YJ -

I have looked through this site and found numerous certification courses but have not found IFPA in any of the threads. My gym is throwing some good money at me to take the course and training would be a great way for me to teach what I love etc.

I expect that this is merely an introductory course but my thoughts are that it will get my foot in the door for this type of career path. If it is something I plan on making a career out of then I will most definetly take my chances on CSCS certification etc but for now it sounds like a good deal. I just don't want to be categorized as one of those dweebs walking around with a clipboard at the local gym :)

Also, I plan on going back to school and the schedule at the gym would work great with my school schedule.

    What are your thoughts? :hmmm:

How is the certification obtained? Is it online? or via a class? And if its via a class, how long is the course? and is the final test to recieve the cert. an oral practical or is it written?

I don't have all the details yet and it is still 4-6 weeks out so I will update the thread. I was hoping someone had heard of it before.

However, this is what I believe it is to be (it may change as I learn more details though so don't hold me 100% to all of it).

3 total days - each day is a 12 hour class
      2 weeks to study
written based on multiple scenarios and 125-150 multiple choice questions

      Thanks for the help bro...

12 hour classes? Surely that is a mistake. I believe any certification that is obtained via a written format or on the internet to be useless. In a gym setting, they are not too bad, but if you plan to train multiple people, people who know what theyre talking about or athletic teams or programs, you must have something respectable..... the more respectable, the more $$$ you will make.

Understood - I would not expect anything other than a gym setting from this to see what it's like etc. I just hope to see if it's for me and then take it from there. I can always progress in the field as I am going through school and so on.

Thanks for the honesty and I'll keep you posted (I didn't like the 12 hour class deal either).

          :D
