Besides exercising and avoiding stimulants (caffeine, etc.) and sugar in the evening, melatonin is the only thing I really know. It does weird things to me though, so I avoid it most of the time. Obviously something like Sominex does wonders for sleeping 8hrs or more but I never feel as rested as natural sleep.

It just gives me really weird, almost psychedelic dreams. I've actually taken it once or twice just to have an exciting dream--that's how exciting my life is!

3mg Melatonin and 500mg Valerian root is what I use. They work together to provide a more restful and relaxed sleep.

Also something more mild and a lot less habit forming is to take one benadryl about an hour before bed. The side effect of the antihistamine will make you drowsy and help you sleep. But you can't use it more than a few days because your body gets use to it, and adding more dosn't work. So this is only something usefull to help on occasion.

I will give this a run. Any morning "hangovers" from either one of these?
