  • *Controlled Labs White Flood Review*

I plan to piece together a bunch of these reviews in the near future. Im getting the opportunity to get away from the normal routine and try a few new things. There are tons of new supplement companies popping up and evolving supplements along with it, so Im going to be trying a few.....

First.... heres what Controlled Labs write-up for White Flood...the background:

FLOOD your system for PEAK performance!

Arginine and Ornithine have been shown to enhance the natural anabolic effects of weightlifting, and even promote greater strength gains within weeks!! In the White Flood formula, potent doses of Arginine and Ornithine are delivered bonded to an ester, enhancing the absorption and simultaneously prolonging the effects of both compounds. With this controlled delivery system, these compounds can pass through the digestive system intact and deliver incredible pumps and vasodilation.

GABA is an important neurotransmitter that has been used for years as an ergogenic aid. When combined with the stimulants in our exclusive formula, users report a very unique effect that must be experienced to believe, due to enhanced neuron firing in the brain. Users report focused, relaxed, energy without the jitters often associated with stimulant use. GABA has also been shown to boost post-workout growth hormone levels and enhance fat metabolism (more research is needed on the exact mechanism of action).

Anecdotal feedback from power-lifters and strength athletes indicates that Inosine, a precursor to adenosine, may improve training during peak intensity (improving explosiveness and power) by enhancing the regeneration of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) and enhancing oxygen utilization. It may even benefit the endurance athlete allowing for easier release of oxygen from the blood cells to the tissues leading to performance enhancement. As a bonus, it may also act as a natural anti-inflammatory.

Glucuronolactone is a powerful naturally occurring compound that has been shown to increase focus and concentration, help fight fatigue, and improve mood while providing an instant energy boost. Combined with GABA and caffeine, you have the perfect combination to take your intense workouts to the next level.

Octacosanol is a 28 carbon long-chain saturated primary alcohol naturally occurring in sugarcane wax, spinach and wheat germ (the Octacosanol in White Flood is from sugarcane wax). Popeye must have been onto something because studies suggest that octacosanol has potent ergogenic properties including the sparing of muscle glycogen stores and increasing the oxidative capacity of muscles. As a bonus, it may help maintain optimal cholesterol levels.

Vanadyl Sulfate is a potent insulin-mimetic that promotes glycogen synthesis, helps maintain blood glucose levels, and may stimulate muscle anabolism by forcing more nutrients directly into the muscles.

Beta-Alanine helps to increase aerobic efficiency, enhance oxygen transport, and reduce lactic acid accumulation in the muscle tissue. Many users also experience a tingling sensation from this compound that revs them up for their workout.

Tyrosine works synergistically with caffeine and other ingredients to help boost your focus and stamina.

To put this formula over the top, we added potassium gluconate (which most closely resembles the potassium found naturally in fruit) and naturally occurring ergogenics like theobromine, evodiamine, and vinpocetine that increase blood circulation and nutrient delivery, enhance focus and oxygen flow, and improve athletic performance. We also included natural antioxidants to aid recovery and reduce oxidative (and other) damage to DNA.

It's time to FLOOD YOUR SYSTEM.... with the most advanced preworkout Nitric Oxide and Energy Enhancer available; White Flood!

1.Price/Packaging- I paid $42 for 1.21 pounds of white flood. Many of the pre-workout products will likely the the most expensive of all your supplements. That is the case for me. But after doing a lot of research, trail & error, I have concluded that FOR ME, I need something pre-workout. I think we'll all agree that the focus is still on post workout nutrition, but a lot of us are paying more attention to pre-workout nutrition these days. Theres 50 servings per container, so youre looking at like $.80 a serving, which in that context isnt that bad. Packaging is simple. Well packaged, long-handled scooper to reach the bottom when necessary. Labeling is clear, ingredients list is highlighted and to the point. satisfied with packaging. 9/10

Mixing- I use the turbo shaker cup, there is a built in strainer/mixer on the lid so its basically a 2 part unit. Youll need a little more than some swirling in the cup, I resorted to a spoon after about day 3. The good news is, once you mix it, using the appropriate amount of water, it doesnt re-settle on the bottom if left untouched for a minute. I have a habit of swirling it before I drink it regardless. 9/10

Taste-We talk about this all the time here, and I have tried some pretty rancid things in my day. I have the attitude that if it helps me grow, Ill drink about anything regardless of taste. White Flood is not the best tasting product on the market, but if you read the ingredients, understand what the ingredients are, you cant expect to be drinking the worlds finest lemonade. I have never had a great tasting pre-workout product (albeit NO Explode, Xtend, etc) so going on to my first sip, I prepared. Its actually not too bad, not great but bearable. Like anything, the more water you add, the more dull the taste is and with a product like this, water isnt a bad idea. Its a lemonade flavor that I swear to God stays in your mouth the entire day. 7/10

Effectiveness-Finally, the effectiveness of White Flood. I like it. I get a tingling feeling all over my arms and face (guessing from the Beta Alanine). I hate using the term "aggressive" but lets say I had a better attitude to wanting to get shit done in the gym. My strength increased over the course of about 3 weeks. This was a slight to moderate increase. I didnt jump 40lbs on my bench or 30 on my squats but I enjoyed about 10 extra pounds to my bench and slight gains to other lifts. I enjoyed the energy, the tingling feeling is nice, the focus was more then welcome. Remember to consume plenty of water, if not, be ready for a headache. 8.5/10

SummaryIn short, its not a miracle supplement or the solution to all your problems but its a help. I wish these products were cheaper/more affordable but I realize the raw ingredients arent cheap. I think Controlled Labs is a very reputable company and listens to the people who buy their product which is the reason I bought this product to begin with. If youre looking for something pre-workout Idgive this a go, at least try it. It was a welcome change for me in attitude and strength. I drank about hald 30 minutes before I trained and the other half as I trained.. I added water as I went to the mixture. I still have over half a tub left and will probably buy at least one more when this one runs out. Overall score 8.4

    YJ Approved.

I tried Purple Wraath by CL and liked it a lot, although I know BSN's NO Xplode is more comparable. When I tried NO Xplode, I had a big problem with building up a tolerance to the effects. You notice anything like that with White Flood or have you been using it long enough?

I read it you monkey! :fufool:

Work life has been crazy. All work and no play. By the time I get done work and then hit the gym the last thing I want to see is a computer. Hoping it slows down soon.

This is the only product I've taken that my digestive system can't handle. It bloats me & makes my intestines hurt almost to the point of doubling over at times. I wonder what does it...maybe the octacosanol?

I finished up the tub about 8 days ago... it lost a little effect during the latter stages of use. I would/will buy this again. Im going to try some other things though before WF again. I plan on giving Universal's Shock Therapy another try (liked it a lot the first go 'round) and Ill also be trying Millenium Sports Ragnarok at some point.

Are you eating something before taking WF? I learned quickly to not take it on an empty stomach and make sure youre taking in a gallon + water daily and probably close to 54 gallons of water pre/during/post workout.

That is A LOT of water! :D

I wasn't eating anything with it as I wanted it to have the "full effect", but I can say that I properly hydrate. I probably consume a min. of 10-15 ozs of fluids pre wo & anywhere 25 - 50 ozs during wo, post I'm sure I could improve.

Eating before swimming and running are uncomfortable for me, but I'll try it before a bike w/WF & see what happens.

Did the beta alanine lose its effect also?
I want to take Beta Alanine and its already in this product so that and your review I think I will give it a try.

BA did not, I felt the tingles from the WF BA and the Purple Wraath BA until I got home from the gym.

Couple of questions for you YJ.

What are your reasons for not taking it on an empty stomach? I was always under the impression that taking it too close to food would decrease the effectiveness. Any theories on why you may have gotten better results NOT on an empty stomach?

Though I could be wrong, I think I remember you saying that WF/PW/GM was the best non-hormonal stack made. You still stand by that statement or has your opinion changed after the end of the tub of WF?

Last question. As far as the PW, do you sip on that during the workout, pre workout, or both? And how many scoops?

                              Thanks again for the reviews.
