      what exactly can it do to your CNS and will your CNS return to normal if use is discontinued?

        Caffeine is not going to do anything to you - relax. If you drink too much and get heart palpitations or something it's a different story but a couple of cups a day is pretty harmless. I am just talking about coffee or tea here- I don't have any experience with other drinks. I would be more concerned with ginseng and other shit that is likely to be in those drinks than the caffeine. Just drink black coffee or green tea and you'll be fine.

          I am not aware of any long term CNS damage with caffeine. There are short term indicators with caffeine overuse, like heart palpitations, etc. but to to the best of knowledge, they are reversible. Do you have any peer-reviewed publications you can point me to?

            Come on bro... Askville doesn't constitute what I consider reliable a reliable source ... :rofl:

            Here is a better reference:

            The Relationship of Coffee Consumption with Mortality - Esther Lopez-Garcia, PhD et al., Annals of Internal Medicine.

            Conclusion: Regular coffee consumption was not associated with an increased mortality rate in either men or women. The possibility of a modest benefit of coffee consumption on all-cause and CVD mortality needs to be further investigated.

            http://www.annals.org/content/148/12/904.abstract

            To the OP: You're fine bro. Just stick to regular coffee or tea and don't overdo it to a point where you get the shakes and you'll be fine.

              Caffeine's pharmacological effects have been studied pretty deeply. I don't think it is the caffeine that's the problem, it's the other shit like ephedra and clen.

                  I passed moderation a long time a go, I really don't even get any energy from it. Really just became a habit go to the gym and grab a speed stack. I agree though I think the other stuff synephrin etc. in there is probably a lot worse than the caff. I just wanted to see if anyone knew of any solid research on the topic.

                    Caffiene in moderation has positive effects;

                    One a day Vs none is good for the heart

                    Taken before excercise it stimulates and raises pain threshold.

                    Negatives are;

                    Taken late at night can effect sleep

                    Over use can lead to heart irregularities

                    CNS over stimulation can leave your adrenal glands erxhausted

                    Raises cortisol

                          I always figure there could be much worse habits then caffeine. Just dont over do it. I have some strong coffee once in the morning and sometimes before a workout and then I have a Coke with my dinner or lunch each day.

                            Slowly cut back and then quit for a while.

                            Your body is trying to tell you it's time for a break.
