  • Post Workout Shake Macro Breakdown - Whats yours?

So I recently increased the number of carbs and protein because I feel like my body can absord and use more then I was taking in. Especially with GHRP which makes you feel like your muscles are really sucking down all those cals.

    Anyway, the breakdown is now:

    80 Grams Carbs
    60 Grams Protein
    2.5 Grams (1/2 tsp) Creatine

    PWO shake = 560 cals

Use to have 5 grams of creatine but now that I takes NO Explode or jacked pre training with creatine in it i cut back a but for post workout.

60g carbs in the form of maltodextrin and dextrose. Fructose isn't good to me.
        30g whey protein
        10g BCAA

Usually end up eating again an hour after PWO shake.

50g optimum whey protein (cheap isolate)
Can of pineapple or 50g carbs from Karbolyn (Glycoject by Evogen, Hanys brand)
          10g BCAA
          10g glutamine

I need to start adding carbs to my post workout shake. I have never done it. Always use 50g whey immediately after and then eat an hour after my shake.

Didn't scrum just start adding grape juice to his post workout? Curious to see if he has noticed anything.

Up the protein, your body will use more.

Why the hell wouldn't you use carbs. It can be argued that it's more important then protein after workout

No good reason. Just never used it. I'll start adding it in.

Hard to tell, since I started creatine as well at the same time. Whatever it is, it's working. I am up over 8 lbs and since all my shirts were tailored fits, I can barely fit into them now.

Carbs in the shake is good, but I have also read that if you eat before lifting, it elevates your insulin levels anyway, so the carbs in the shake may be unnecessary. Don't know, but it can't hurt I suppose as long as the sugars aren't detrimental.

I've actually gone back to frozen fruit blended with whey, fifty grams whey and about forty fruit fructose. Brings me round mentally quick

                        12oz whole milk
                        2 scoops ON whey

                        Few minutes later...

                        8oz cold water
                        5g ON wild grape creatine

why would you have whole milk? the fat and the ceasin means it is very slow digesting. the exact opposite of what you want after a workout. you want carbs and fast acting protein.

The ON creatine mix has all the carbs I need and the whey is fast acting.

Little slow, lots of fast, perfect blend.

No it's not the perfect blend, not for post workout.

You do realize that the milk slows down the digestion process of everything right? It's turns the whey into slow digesting. Perfect before bed, not post workout. You want simple carbs and fast protein. Slow acting protein and fat serves no purpose at all post workout.
