  • GNC Is Dying

Can't believe anyone still buys anything from these guys.

GNC reports $433 million fourth-quarter loss leading up to rebranding campaign | Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

GNC today reported a fourth quarter loss of $433.4 million for the Pittsburgh-based vitamin and supplement retailer, a result that interim CEO Bob Moran said was “certainly not what any one of us wanted to see.”

The loss reflects a 12 percent drop in domestic sales among company-owned stores, as well as a $10 million expense to ready the company for its One New GNC marketing rebranding launched in late December.

A year ago, the company reported a profit of $42.9 million in the fourth quarter of 2015.

No surprises. I remember working there several years ago and telling myself this company will go under with the way they conduct business. There is no ethical way to sell products to consumers, and they keep pushing their brands

Haven't set foot in one of those in over 10 years. Always thought they were overpriced.

Wasting her money. Amazon has them for half the price I bet.

Amazon has the powder but she needs the pre mixed shakes. She's a branch manager of two local banks so she's always on the go and doesn't want to deal with mixing it then cleaning. Sam's Wholesale has one flavor but its only $1 cheaper.

GNC, I remember back in my High School days when me and my friend walked into GNC to buy some of that Creatine Serum, forgot what it was called. It had just came out. We were both 16 at the time. Going into the bathroom all discreetly like we were about to sauce up and putting a few drops behind our tongue. We would do our workout and tell each other that it was working. Bunch of dumbasses. That shit was expensive too.

Haven't been to GNC in so long. Do all my supplement shopping on Amazon.

Back in college I used that stuff. One time I was in my car opening a new bottle and I dropped it on the floor. I still remember how sad I was.

There's really no reason why a supplement store shouldn't do well. Besides porn, the supplement industry is very profitable. That's just poor management in my opinion. Their pricing is anywhere near competitive so most people will just order online.

Amazon is putting several places at risk because their pricing is very competitive. GNC should shake up their supplement lines and pricing in hopes to save their company. If they carried my products and were competitive on pricing I would shop there to get my shit faster and avoid my supplements being hindered by the heat during shipping.

                            Couldn't be more wrong bro.

The profit margin is tiny in supplements because of all the competition. This is why bodybuilding.com as a supplement company is also dieing. The only way GNC was ever able to do well was because they were able to make a huge profit on their products. People have wised up with places like amazon. So now GNC has to try and compete by dropping the prices so low they are literally only making pennies per product. Amazon can make pennies per product because of the volume they sell. GNC will soon join RadioShack and Blockbuster.

I see what you're saying. I didn't really look at it that way.

You say that about Blockbuster, but fuck I miss them. Yeah, I know you can stream shit, but there was something about going there and walking through the store trying to find the perfect movie. Plus, I worked there and I have fond memories of banging girls in the back.
