It is oil from the seed of the flax plant.
Can be gotten anywhere.
Oil is genrally comprised mostly of fats.
Nutritional wise we have carbs, proteins and fats.
Each of these can be broken down into their own categories.
In the fat area all different kinds of fats.
Mainly the thing to know about flax is that it is labeled the good fat, meaning it is good because it helps the body do lots of good stuff and doesn't make you fat like bad fat.

Flax oil usually has to be purchased at a supp. store or a health food store. It is one of the most concentrated forms of Omega-3 fatty acids that are very lacking in the American diet, but is the most important Essential fatty acids for cardiovascular health. "Essential" means that our bodies cannot produce it and it must be obtained through the diet. Deep cold water fish like Salmon, Tuna, Sardines, Mackeral, and anchoivies are another great source of Omega-3 fatty acids. They help to keep cholesterol in check, support brain function, upregulate fat-burning and keep the arteries flexable and from hardening, and they support brain function among other things.
If you are using a protein shake simply throw a tablespoon in your shake twice a day when you take you 1-T. It has a slightly nutty taste and does no alter the flavor all that much. I think it works best in chocolate protein shakes.
