  • Advocare?

this kid i know is trying to get me to start using this expensive shit. the football coaches had a guy come in the other night and try to sell it to all the players.

i told my friend not to waste his money and just get some whey protein, creatine, and maybe a weightgainer. he insists that i research it and ill "be sold."

im goin to do some more research on it but i trust the responses i get in this forum and i was hoping you guys could clear this thing up for me. is it worth it?

    thanks for any help.

      ah yes,
well as far as i can tell so far it is basically a company like ON or Twinlab. The kid says that the rep they had come in told them that it was superior to all other protein powders, etc.

They make a post workout product, a weight gaining product, and something called POS2 and POS5.

All expensive. (its not that it looks that expensive, its just that the amount they give you will last you about two weeks)

        found this:
It is not easy to find objective information online about Advocare products and their ingredients, which is usually not a good sign. Their website, advocare.com, is vague and more focused on the business aspect of the company. Their brochures are equally vague in details regarding their products. Advocare is a multi-level marketing company that sells a host of "weight loss enhancement products" and other "optimal health and wellness products." Their weight management system comprises both supplements and meal replacement shakes. The cornerstone of the program is the "Metabolic Nutrition System," which contains a number of ingredients, including the commonly used garcinia campogia, chitosan, antioxidents, synthetic chromium, 5-HTP, Chinese herbs and others.

Advocare's numerous products are expensive and don't address the basics of sensible weight loss. The real problem with diet pills and supplements is that most have side-effects, which make taking them in the long-term unreasonable. Quit taking the pills and the weight usually comes back.

i did look at the label of the stuff my friend was taking a while back. i dont recall what all was in it but i remember it didnt have much protein and aspartame.

          update:

i knew my friend was trying to sell me on this product, but i didnt know he was trying to sell it to me. Advocare isnt sold in stores. it relies on its customers to sell it to others. each time a customer sells a product they get a certain percentage of the money. I also read that the products are crap, but i cant find any evidence.

any organization relying on the use of MLM and sales reps to push their products is not relying on the quality of their ingredients to obtain/maintain customers. the products sold by most MLM programs are of comparable quality to what's available in most pharmacies, grocery stores, and other mass retail outlets, which at least gives you the means by which to obtain customer service, refunds etc. . . If you're not happy with the product, is your 'friend' going to give you a refund?
if you owned a company that sold high quality products, you'd want everyone to know what the high quality ingredients were, you'd advertise them even. sounds overall like a monetary black hole for customers, while some tool in florida gets paid to play golf. i personally only use companies that assume i'm intelligent enough to read a label, make my own decisions, and don't rely on pushy sales tactics to make money. i apologize for this soap-box rant, but multi-level-marketers all blow goats.
