I am a Marine and have been in the Corps for thirteen years. Recruit training in the Army and the Corps are different on many levels. It comes down to what each branch is responsible for. The Army is much larger than the Corps so we have to put more time and effort into our recruits. It is like building a Dodge Neon or a Ferrari. Neons are cheap, easy to build and quite serviceable. Ferraris are faster, look better, and perform at a higher level. Consequentley it takes more time and effort to make a Marine. To prepare for recruit training use endurance exercises. In addition to lots of oush ups, practice holding yourself in a variety of push up positions for a minute at a time. Tons of ab exercises and get to where you can run 3 miles in at least 21 minutes. Pull-ups and try running with a pack (40lbs) if you can. If you were going to Parris Island you would want to get in the pool as well but I do not believe you need to worry about that in the Army. Good luck.

rrrr Devil! yea the swim quals are a bitch! jumping into the deep end of the pool with full gear, pack, boots, weapon and all that! LOL i get a kick out of hearing the instructors hollering at the recruits to relax! Theyre telling you to relax but theyre screamin at you like drill instructors at the same time!

damn i'm glad that the Army added 2 seconds to the 2-mile run. I passed my PT test by 2 hundreths of a second. I'm E-2. Yea. Now i just have to do it again in 2 weeks when i'm down at Lenardwood to keep my E-2 status.

Anyway, i'm off to basic and i wont be around for about 7 months. Later.

It's MI. The title is Non-moris Signals intercept/analysist. That's all that i'm allowed to say.

Bigpetefox, i don't really understand what you were saying about my knees and them being taint. Could you explaine that a little more?
Those are what you'll be required to do for the minimum, to pass. Its EXTREMELY easy to do that, so why don't you bust your ass and try to do the max, you'll be the super troop then, and you'll probably get some recognition for it, if your the best. I believe its 72 pushups, 82 situps and 13:00 min 2mi run to get 100 in each event. A basic trainee scoring 300 points on the APFT will be looked at as honorable!! Be aggressive and motivated and show your leadership skills and you'll have lots of things come your way. You'll see, good luck bro!!

well, my last PT test was last tuseday. i got 61 push-ups, 67 sit-ups and 13:55 on my 2 mile run. Almost 90-90-90. But i'm working on it down here in AIT. I'm still not quite used to the humidity down here. I'm originally from MN, not that much humidity for very long in the summer months.
