  • When to increase weight?

    I was wondering, how do you know when you increase your weight? Like what if your doing like 15-20 reps or 12-6...how do you know when you should raise the weight?

    well if you're doing 15-20 reps not for endurance i think it's about time. if you're doing 6-12 i go up when i can do sets at 8-10 reps. till i can do 8-10 with the new weight again then i go up again.

      it depends on the cadence of your reps. You should shoot for an average of 1:00 to about 1:30 minutes of Time under Tension depending on the muscle fiber type (that is more in depth). Once I reach about 1:20-1:30 minutes for a set I will increase my weight about 5-10 pounds depending on the movement (obviously for a leg press it might be more but for a wrist curl it will be much less).

        i usually increase the weight when i know its time, usually the body will tell u when its perfect to increase. At times im doing wieght and it seems light so i add some more.

          If you are shooting for 8 reps but get 10 add weight.You can usually tell after a while if you need more resistance.

            depends on the exercise.....on compound movements I like to shoot for 6 reps......when I can do 8 I will throw on the 2 1/2's......I love those fuckers........smaller muscle groups I shoot for 8-12 reps......any lower and I think I put too much strain on the tendons......

              Usually when I can complete 2 or more sets at 8-10 reps (normal sets are four per exercises). Throw on 5-10 lbs. more and most times reps go down to 4-6 per set.
