  • Abs

Hey guys just wondering....How many times a week do all you do abs?

  • #2
I do a 4 days on, 1 day off schedule.

    Day 1: Chest, Shoulders
    Day 2: Back, Abs
Day 3: Arms (bis, tris, forearms)
    Day 4: Legs
Day 5: Off ( I usually do cardio on this day)

So, I hit abs 3 times every 2 weeks or so... seems to work so far as my abs are getting pretty solid ... now just need to cut enough to get to show consistently :)

4-5 days that sounds like overtraining, u sure its not a diet thats helping u see em better? and are u doing weighted ab exercises? those imo are what builds abs the best

Actually with abs you really cant over train. I know people who take only 1 day off a week. I've had a very strict diet going for a while, and have seen great results. I switch everything i do from day to day, i'll use a medicine ball one day and some bands or use a machine another day.

not true at all. Do you know why everyone in america and the world is obsessed with abs yet hardly anyone has a good set. Because they should be worked out like any other muscle group in your body. and on a side not most people don't know how to workout a regular muscle so they definetly don't know how to work out the abs. If you wanted defintion in your bicep would you work them out 5 times a week? NO...you would diet. If you wanted your bicep to get bigger would you work it five times a week? NO...you would workout smarter and more intense to force the muscle to grow. Quality over quantity. THe very fact that in your post you said you have a strict diet says it all. I used to work out my abs about once a month (before Taekwondo, now it is mandatory to do some situps every class, though I don't agree with it) and my abs look the same and have always looked good because I have low bodyfat.

I hit abbs twice a week, only in season. I don't do any abb training in the off season.

I like to do abbs about every other day. They're the easiest muscle to work and you get the fastest results!

yeah definatley all good points there. I myself have tried doing them just once a week and dieting and have seen no results at all, so I slowly moved my routine up to about a 4-5 day a week with the diet I'm on and that is when i have seen my best results. So thats what i'm gonna stick with. Yeah everyone i talk to has there own opinoins when it comes to abs, I've argued back and fourth with friends. It's a pretty good topic of disscusion. Thats what I like about this site, is the fact that you get so many different opinions so many different sides... it's actually pretty cool...just wanna say thanks guys for the replys.

Okay, I was really lazy and didn't read the entire thread for some reason, but here's my $.02. If that is you in your avatar, then you have low b/f, I'm assuming. Do you do weighted crunches and shit? If thats been said, omit me. :D

I use dumbells sometimes, other times i'll do cruches on a machine with the tricep rope. I try to switch it up alot so i dont get bored with it
