  • I think my form sucks...

    I just recently, last week, went heavy on dumbell presses and I noticed that when I was on my downward motion I would tend to kind of lean the dumbells in, making it so that my forearms weren't at a 90 degree angle with my upper arm (at the bottom of the motion). Is that normal? Am I going to heavy?

    sometimes your wrists can't handle the weight. Try using either wrist wraps or having someone spot you at the wrists.

      Could be a little to much. Is the inward motion coming from your wrists or elbows? You said presses. Your using a press motion and not a fly motion right?

          Its coming from the elbows...I think. It's gotta be, because its not the weights that are bending in. Its my entire forearm.

            Sounds like it may be a little to heavy. Lighten up the weight, see if you can keep the form better. If so, stick with that and then every week or two, give that heavier weight a try. The longer you keep incorrect form, the harder it will be to get it back.

                On another note.... have someone critique your form.... someone on the outside can always point out more effectively flaws.. different angles

                    concentrate on form first... then weight.. if you think your form sucks... then it probably does.. the best part of weight lifting for me is the great burn from knowing i isolated and squeezed the target muscle.. but i never sacrifice that feeling for more weight..unless i smoked weed be4 i worked out
