  • What the hell am I doing wrong?

I swear to God, this happens every month anda half to two months. I was making pretty good gains, then I plateaued. I switched up my routine and my weights went down. Two weeks went by and I didn't get any stronger, thought it was because of the routine change, let it slide.. Third week I see some progress, but today I fucking sucked. I ate pretty well, and got a good amount of sleep. Drank my water. What am I doing wrong?

might be mental. maybe try switching the days of your workouts around, not just your actual routine.

switch everything, time of day, workout days, excercises, routine, etc. Then keep track of it and see how it goes.

The biggest thing though is nutrition/diet/calories....it's getting warmer so your resting metabolism might be kicking higher so you might check your calories....also having to do with heat- WATER. drink a lot...you'll notice a difference if your not drinking enough.

Sigh, I fear that it is partially mental. I just can't get past the block. :(

also I notice your problem if I haven't given myself a break in a long time. A long time for me is 1 year....take a few extra days off to rest up.

let me guess you work out at least three days a week for at least 1 hour a day...possible more. That is your answer right there. Too much training.

You know what works good is... atleast with me for chest . I switch my routine back and fourth each week between two set routines I have. That way I won't loose the amount of weight I can handle with any given exercise. (keep in mind I only do this with chest)

I always get the same thing, I hit a block and see nothing, that is usually when I take a break for a couple days or even a week and then completly restructure my work out and try and throw in new work outs, it usually works out good for me.

Mate, trust me, i get this too, its all in your head, you jus gotta find ways to keep your spirits up and keep your enthusiasm going. For me, its a mixture of my ex telling me how good i look, fight club, looking forward to my tuna after and Rocky films :D

Best thing you can possibly get now is a decent training partner, i am getting one in a few months and i am well excited. Make sure it ain't some lameass who just wants to pose in the mirror though.

Yeah true maybe you need to get somebody to workout with man, from the sounds of it maybe you have been overtraining a little. One of the first signs of overtraining is a lack of motivation.

Maybe if you had someone there to keep you motivated it would help. Naturally the only reall way to get out of being overtrained is time off, but If your anything like me I fear taking time off (which I mean as a few weeks). So I feel getting some buddies in the gym with you to get some motivation might be your best bet

Are you serious? Do you mean my chest alone, or my entire body? How many days a week do you suggest I go to the gym for an entire body workout?

Thanks for all the comments guys.

That's what I would say, possible overtraining. Check your diet as well.

I don't get how that is possible, I work chest once a week and only do 3-4 excersizes for it.
