I hurt my back doing bent over rows Easter morning and was forced out of the gym for about a month. I did some physical therapy and am now back to lifting. Should I try bent over rows again or stick with other back exercises? Anyone ever have this same problem.

If your gonna try them again I would go with a much lighter weight. But if you don't want to take a chance at re-injuring yourslf I would say pass on it....there are a shitload of other good back workout you can do. Thats what is nice about the back there are so many different ways to work it out.

Re: Back injury
if you are going to do bent over rows or any exercise that puts your lumbar in a dangerous position you better be damn sure your form is PERFECT. I speak from experience when I have gotten lax in my form I always seem to hurt myself. Be very careful as chronic back pain is a pain in the ass to deal with. drop the weights back and use perfect form.Originally posted by ECKARDT

Yeah, back injuries are the worst. Just be careful, bro. I like chinups, lat pulldowns and cable rows better for that reason. I'm just getting back into deadlifts after a few years ago I had injured myself.Last edited by Primal Instinct; 06-07-04, 01:46 AM.
