  • Burn and Bulk? Need some help

    Hi all,

Here's my situation. I'm going on vacation in July and have been getting in shape by lifting weights HARD. The muscle is building fast, but I also have the start of a tire around my waist that I need to work on.

Question is, can I burn fat without hurting my muscle gain? If so, how do I go about it (diet and exercise)? I have a stationary bike, but I haven't used it much because of the fear of not gaining as much muscle as possible between workouts.

    Thanks a bunch.

good question. I have a few extra pounds i still need to get rid of. And im wondering the same thing. You cant build and loose on the same day. In order to build u need to have alot of cals more cals then u burn. And to loose u need to have less cals then u burn. So you need to seperate your cardio days from ur work out days first of all. Eat healthy. Eating healthy will only result in either maintaining or loosing a few pounds. Then you can return to working out on ur lifting days. You can turn fat into muscle so you will be loosing fat any way you look at it. The cardio and healthy eating will get rid of the tire. Just give it time. If you rush it and start not eating much as a quick solution thats when you can see muscle loss. You need to eat enuff but not over eat and do some cardio and work out. That's all i can say.

same thing here. i would say one or the other. when u build muscle u are goiing to have a lower b/f, plus muscle will burn the fat, but if you want to lose fat quick you gotta lower carbs/cals and get on that bike. i would say do this for a few months and then start getting bigger again.

put it this way, you won't be "maximizing" your musclular growth if you are trying to put your body in a calorie defecit to lose weight. it doesn't mean you can't do it but it becomes much harder. that is where eating clean comes into play. because you are limiting your total calories you need to make sure that all of them are there for a purpose in helping the muscle to build.
