    Juka - There's a difference between feeling slightly sore the next day and being in so much pain your unable to walk, or use any muscle in any case. A little soreness can be expected, but if your always in a constant aching pain, then your either underconditioned or overtraing. As far as your question specificly I would say you over trained.

    Legs...LEGS are the LARGEST muscle groups in the body. If your bi's get "slightly sore" it stands to reason that since your legs are slightly larger than your legs that your legs should be slightly^2 sore (or exponentionally sore) esp. when begining to really train them!

    Your legs are the KEY to growth and being afraid to train them b/c of some discomfort for the following few days is detramental to your entire body's training (when speaking in terms of residual growth).

    Yes there is a difference between pain and injury...and if the difference is unclear...perhaps you are in the wrong type of forum. Your body becomes sore then recovers to attempt to "handle" the load the next time ... and over time it will (look at the palm of your hands...NO NOT THE HAIR...the calus). That is why we "overload"... and use words like Failure!!!

    The important thing is to remember your goals. and to take into concideration reality...If you want GODZILLA QUADS but are a waiter at a reasturant...then nasty ass leg workouts can cost you money. But if you dont rely on mobility to make your dollar...then suck it up...big legs take a level of mental toughness that is unparalelled to any other body part--both during and after the workout!

    ---to cardio or not to cardio after .... now that is a totally different question --- what do you want your legs to remember when you go to sleep? (HA, that is old world thinking...thanks frank!)



    ***side note: My Degree is in Ex. Sci. NOT ENGLISH...so sound out the words not found in the "english" dictionary! :D

      yea I work back room in Target lol. Lifting shit and stuff =/ Thats why im afraid now to do legs...
      I tried the smith machine. Its actually great i really am feeling it though.

        And I don't do any cardio at all on the days I lift. That energy is best left for the real work. You can't be afraid to be sore the next day. I say stick with the basics.

        quads=squats,leg press
        hamstrings=deadlifts,lying curls
        calves=standing and seated press

        You've said on several other posts you don't believe in the "no pain, no gain" philosophy. I respect your opinion but ask anyone here if they never get sore. I don't care how long you've trained or what gear you do or don't take. There's a difference between the feeling of a tendonitis or tear and that great feeling of just being sore as hell. That soreness is a natural body process, of being torn apart and rebuilt.
        I agree completely. How do you know you're getting a good workout for your muscles, if they're not even sore the next day? If they're not sore then you should've worked them harder.
