ive read that the more you sleep, your muscles will grow more, but i always figured sleep hurt it because your body is fasting.

Its a happy medium somewhere. Like in other posts I like to get around 5-6 hours a night. any more than that and I am wiped for the whole day. Overall days of rest is more important than just sleeping 8 hours. You grow when your body is recovering which could be sitting at work or watching TV. Sleep is important but not the only factor. as far as fasting, if you are worried about that then wake up in the middle of the night and pop a shake. LOL

ive been getting 6 hours a day and at time the most 8 hours. If i go less than 6 and more than 8, i feel like shit and tired all day. But around 6-8 is good.

I always heard the body does the most muscle repair during sleep. That's what I heard is why the navy seal trainers give the trainees three hours of sleep to let muscle repair set in and then back at it again.

well if I get too much sleep and I am dragging ass it just works against the quality of my days so I don't want that to happen.

sleep works in cycles, if you sleep too long...more than about 8 hours, you start a new cycle. theres also different levels of sleep, if u wake up half way through your next cycle which is the deepest stage of sleep, yes you will be tired all day. thats why with naps your either supposed to only nap for less than an hour, or more than 3. cuz the same thing will happen. but i think 8 hours is ideal for muscle growth, but i usaully only get about 6 and a half hours

actually I believe the sleep cycle is 1 and 1/2 hours if I remember from psych and bio classes. so it is good to wake up it 1 1/2, 3, 4 1/2, 6, 7 1/2, 9, etc... You feel most rested when you wake up after a REM stage sleep. If you break cycle to soon or late then you will feel drag ass tired.
