  • Time Off??

I have read just about this entire board. One thing everyone agrees on is that you should not overtrain (although the definition varies alot). You should get your rest.
My question is this. If you feel good and your body is not showing any signs of injury do you need to rest. If I am getting 8 hours sleep. eating well, and I am not fatigued I have a hard time telling myself to stay out of the gym. (it calls to me)

Everyday I can put in the same intensity to my work outs. I appear to be making great gains. Is it possible that some people don't need to work out EOD or 2 on 1 off cycles.

When I was really young and nothing to do I would work out 7 days a week with splits on weekends. I gain alot of size.

How do you tell how much time you need off if your body doesn't tell you when to stop...... mine hasn't yet

I do force a day off at least once a week errr... should I say my wife forces it.

can you make gains? yes. are they the best you can if you are working out so often? no It really gets down to a individual level. If being in the gym makes you happy then go for it (chronic injuries may result). I like to use the least amount of time to get the most out of my body. Plus I am more the scientific type in my approach. most people just like to "work out".

Well I guess I need to reword my question. What is the minimum time off from working out 1, 2 days a week does anyone have any scientific proof to back it up.

define scientific proof. I can back it up both in theory and experience that working out once every 3 or 4 days gives me about the same gains or better than working out more than that.

i work out 3 days a week thats it!

when i first started it was 5 days a week, then eventually switched to 4 , now im on 3.

the more intense your workouts get as the years progress, the more rest you need inbetween workouts.

i cant believe you lift 7 days a week without a break......thats insane. if i lifted two days in a row i'd be shot.

you either have genetics on par, if not better, than the pros. or your not working out hard enough.

p.s. i would never waist that much time in the gym. train harder and smarter.

I agree...if I work out with high intensity the most I can workout is 3...maybe four times a week on occasion. These people the train a body-part a day are not getting the most out of their workouts IMO to be able to train that many days a week. They are obviously buuilding more stamina and burning more fat but I think they are robbing themselves of some size...
