Here is a pushup workout that my dorm does every January. It is kickbutt and a really good community builder. Especially at a small private college where everyone watches you do your pushups.

Basic guidelines. You do it for 16 hours every day, since the average person is awake for that long every day. You don't wake up to do sets. If you get behind, you make the sets up somehow...doubling up in time or quantity. It is all based upon your personal max number of pushups.

When we do it, we don't let our environment hinder us. I've done pushups in a theatre, Walgreens, several classes (a few of the profs stopped class to count with me), a state park, the back of a moving 15 passenger van, the reference section of a library, and a few other unique places. Anyway, it's probably more fun here since there are usually at least 60 other guys doing it, and I can yell pushups and be joined by a few if I'm on campus.

It is very challenging. It is guaranteed to put an inch of chest girth on your frame. I'm not sure how well that guarantee holds with some you bigger or more steady lifters, but I gained an inch last year after steady lifting for the previous 6 months. I gained 2 inches my first year, but that was with no lifting.

Start it whenever you want, of course, but here is our schedule. Most of you have the nutritional and physical fitness things down, so I need not warn you to eat right like I do some of my foolhardy peers.

    Sunday Week 1 Max
    Monday 30% every hour
    Tuesday 50% every hour
    Wednesday 60% every 45 minutes
    Thursday 25% every hour
    Friday 45% every half hour
    Saturday 40% every hour

Sunday 20% every hour and a half
(And remax tonight for week 2)

    Monday 35% every 45 minutes
    Tuesday 55% every 20 minutes
    Wednesday 30% every 15 minutes
    Thursday 65% every hour
    Friday 35% every 45 minutes
    Saturday 45% every hour
    Sunday 25% every 2 hours

Try it out. Let me know what you think. I've done it 4 times, and it always pumps me up, especially when I don't have easy access to a gym.

Looks pretty stupid to me. There are alot better ways to get big, besides a shit load of pushups.

Yeah. Good job. The point isn't to get big, although it is good incentive for 240 college guys who play video games most of the day that they can look a little bigger for 2 weeks before their muscles lose their swollenness. But good insight. The point is "can you handle it?" You do it, and don't give me any cheater pushups or sloppy form. If you can't do it right, don't do it at all. And if you can't handle it and haven't done it, then shut your mouth.

What school are you in? Not criticizing your workout or anything, but if I were a professor and someone came into my class and started doing pushups, my first inclination would be to throw him out of class and suspend him, not join in and count the reps.

There are only 2400 students here, and we ask if the profs care. Some of my profs never know I do them because I sit in the back and few people see me or hear me. And if a prof says don't do them, then I don't do them.

Damn, there ain't no love for push-ups here. I used to do a lot of push ups when I had to do a lot of running. I used to love to do diamond pushups. Good pump, but no size from it

I got one for you. When I was still in AIT (Army Training) I made a mistake and had to be on 24 hr guard duty and i had to do 65 push ups every hour on the hour. I made it 4 hrs at 65 pu each time from that I dont remember how I slowed down but I know at the end of the day all I could do was 6.

Yeah. Pushups are tough. Regardless of all the crap people said, I just thought I'd throw this out there for some people to try. It definitely tones very well, and you do so many pushups, it is almost an entire upper body workout.

                        Lithare,
I can appreciate your enthusiasm. Your push up routine won't really apply to the training routines you'll find here. Some here have forgotten the rules of the forum. Keep doing what works for you. Don't let others stop you from giving your suggestions.

in high school some friends and i used to do wall push ups or walls, you do one push up get up touch the wall then you do two get up touch the wall and so on untill you do a set of ten. we used to race each other,so we wouldnt do it slow,i must say it kicked some ass.

Looks like a little much bro, try sticking the chest workouts to once a week for a bit and you will surely see some much better results

Do you know anything about over training?

If your going to spend that much time doing push ups, why don't you just start training your whole body and get an overall superior fitness level.
