I hurt my lower back snowboarding and want to find someway of still doing leg workouts, in particular squats. I've never used supports before. Anybody have any experience using weight belts or other ways of getting around lower back injuries/pain? Thanks!

Re: Back injury
I personally wouldn't do any exercise that may cause further injury! Give it a couple of days to heal! The squat rack will still be there when you are ready!Originally posted by BBAddict

It's not healing-that's the problem. I've let it go for about a month now and now I can't walk without significant pain. I went to a chiropractor this morning, but that's gonna take awhile for total rehealing. The real problem is I have one month left on my mass-building cycle and then I'm going on a two month cutting cycle to try to get down to about 5% bf, and I really want to make the last of this last month!

Bro if you are having pains while walking ,in the back or in the legs, that could be a bulging disk! Only way to tell if it is a disk is to have an MRI! If the pains are shooting down your legs then you have something pressing on a nerve and that is not good! I wish you well Bro!Originally posted by BBAddict

Well having jacked my back up minimally and then totally screwed it up by lifting when it was hurt my advice would be to let your back heal period.
Its connected to many, many things and you can compound your injury very easily. I felt the same way you did, and attempted the same thing you are inquiring about..the result was 6 weeks of not working out at all and several trips to the doctor, backcracker, ect..just give it some time, if its not getting better go see why.

Alright, so I guess I should listen to my body and not do squats. Things like leg presses, won't hurt my back though, will they? It seems like only lifts that require the back for support and stabilization of extremely heavy weights would pose the most risk.

Yes leg presses will hurt your lower back. If your dead set on then get a weight belt. There's really nothing you can do with your legs that dosn't risk screwing it up more. IMO anything that you can do will give you such minimul results, you might as well rest it.
