  • Here we go again...

OK, I'm finally at the point where I can start lifting again. It's been several months now since I could stick to any type of training regime due to health issues. I'm fat. I'm weak. I lost lots of mass and my core suffers the most, especially my back. Due to my stupid thyroid issues over the past 6 months or so, I'm probably at 20% BF right now :elephant: :cursin:

Mainly the cardio will be the hardest on me for a while since my endurance is way down. So, I plan on doing 2 sessions of 3/4 hour each in AM and late afternoon 4x a week to start. My lifting will be mid evenings. I will be on a moderate carb intake for a while and base adjustments from there. I want to gain back mass but I really don't want to seriously bulk until I lose some of this extra baggage. I definitely have the drive to get back to at least where I was 6 months ago (in other words, I'm pissed off about it, lol) but the hardest part will be being patient as I drop fat and gain back some mass gradually.

Tomorrow I will find out what my new working poundages are again. I'm glad I have built a home gym cause I'd really feel like shit in a public gym, lol. I think that the worst part of all of this is that I seemed to have forgotten proper form. I even practiced tonight with deadlifts and squats using a broom handle to check and I couldn't seem to get the right feel for it. Hell, I was even tired doing just that. That's how bad my body had gotten. I'm also hesitant to use any real weight on these until I'm certain I won't injure myself. Another long layoff would just crush me  Has anyone else ever had a long layoff and feel awkward regaining proper form? I think it will come back as I get used to feeling the muscles working again but I never considered that this would happen to me. I guess I'll start out slow and see what happens.

what was wrong with ya if I may ask? It does suck I know. It will be 3 months b4 I can do upper body workouts and 8-10 b4 I can do heavy squats and deads. Injuries and health problems make training difficult, but not impossible. You will bounce back man i am sure of it. Stay focused and positive. Dont let the moment get you down. Set small goals for yourself, no more than a month away. PI you will be straight Pimpin in no time dogg. Best of luck to you bro

If you wanted to wait a little before starting cardio, then I would do something a little different. Very short rest periods with a little less weight. GPP style of training. Start with 4 days a week of training, then drop back to 3 and add cardio after about 12 weeks.

my wife suffers from diabetes and hypothyroidism. She keeps active and looks great. Don't let the BS of the average American get you down about hypothyroidism. It is something that can easily be controled, but people are just too lazy to do so.

You know what you're doing bro, you shouldn't have any trouble getting your rythem back. :)
