Not sure excactly if I pulled muscle or something worse in lower back at gym yesterday. Anyone have any quick safe remedies besides hot cold compress, ibeprofeun and rest to get me back in the gym quicker

well what does it feel like and where does it hurt. I would rest it...I do NOT recommend messing with your lower back...once it gets hurt it seems to always be hurt after that. be very careful and when it does start feeling better then be sure to stretch it and take things slow. I regret my days of heavy squatting and deadlifts now because my back will still get tweaked now and then and I am very careful.

:agree: Rest, rest and some more rest. I messed mine up awhile ago doing deadlifts and now I have to be really careful doing anything to keep the proper curvature in my lower back or it will without failure get hurt. Just let it heal and then start again SLOWLY!

Even a muscle pull can be a royal pain in the arse. An inflamed muscle can also cause nerve pain. Rest it, take motrin/ibuprofin and use heat/cold, whichever makes it feel better. If the pain doesn't subside in 2 weeks, go see someone about it.
I pulled a muscle in my T spine area, on the left side about a year ago. It still hurts me. I need a good massage, but keep puting it off. I don't think it's going to heal on it's own anymore.

If you are in pain and have limited,mobility, see your doctor who may be able to prescribe a muscle relaxant. It will ease the discomfort. However, I would still take it easy for a couple of weeks - it is real easy to injure it again.
Also, very important - it is not just the gym where you can re-injure your back. Be careful of everyday things like getting in and out of bed, getting up from a chair or from your car, bending forward to brush your teeth, etc. Be very aware of your bdoy mechanics, i.e bend with your knees, etc. until your back is back to normal.
