Weight training by itself may not get you to where you want to be. Defining strength depends entirely on what you're doing. It would require strength to lift 600lbs over your head in a single lift but it also requires strength to be able to do 100 navy seal style pushups in a row without stopping. Different applications. A fighter needs to be able to do the same thing over and over again without getting tired. Fighers also need those balancing and stabalizing muscles to be strong. You may want to check this website out. I know I've posted this before, but this guy is for real.

He's a three time Taiwan national Kung Fu champion and he was the first American and only non-Chinese to win a world Kung Fu championship held in China. He's also an elite world class grappler. Whether you're into Martial Arts or boxing, this guy has something you can use. His Combat Conditioning book is $40 but worth it. At least check it out and tell me what you think.
